Developing the pieces I worked on for my mini-collection, I did some of my design work on the stand and developed the embellishment design directly onto the piece with tailors chalk.
The coat and dress I created were both zero waste, made from an upcycled duvet cover.
The embroidery on the pieces were made using Bernette B70 DECO, a domestic embroidery machine. The design itself I created on Adobe Illustrator before digitizing it to an embroidery file.
ZERO WASTE PATTERN CUTTING
Sustainability in fashion is a huge interest of mine, and so a lot of the pattern drafting I would create would be zero-waste designs drawn directly onto the fabric in tailors chalk. I would then use different techniques such as darts or pleats to give the garment shaping. This way there is no fabric waste from the garment.
