MINI JUMPER
Each element of the jumper is inspired by different shapes and textures found at Black Rock, Salthill. From the yellow diving board, to the blue waves, to the rocks on the coastline - each of these different shapes and textures come together to inspire this mini-jumper. It is called 'Mini Jumper' as it is a design for a full scale jumper, which was then scaled down to a small model. The jumper was knit on a Brother domestic fine-gauge knitting machine.
Each of the different elements of the jumper were inspired by different colours and textures found at Salthill, Galway.
I have a passion for sustainability, and so I have developed the mini jumper to be a zero-waste design.
The different elements of the jumper were linked together on an industrial linker.
Growing up in Galway Bay, I always found solace by the seaside. I grew to love the beach near my house, from the sandy stones to the blue sea. I have many fond memories of Black Rock, a bright yellow diving board which acted as a hub for young people in the summertime. This mini jumper is inspired by these fond memories of my youth.
Different knit techniques used in the jumper include partial knit, striping, raised rows, fringing and machine tucks.
The 'Mini Jumper' is a full scale design for a knit jumper, which has been scaled down to a miniature size.
IRISH TEXTILES INSPIRED TOTE
Detachable tote style bag inspired by the works of Sybil Connolly and Irish textiles. Techniques used include knit, quilting and free motion embroidery. Made using domestic knit machine and Explore 240 sewing machine. It is knit using a ribbon-style yarn.
The floral design on the bag was inspired by Fuchsia plants.
Sybil Connolly is an Irish designer whose work often featured floral motifs.

The tote bag is completely detachable, operating as two bags in one.
The panels of the bag were first knit, before they were embroidered by machine and then quilted.

Punch-card knit with painted details on surface. Knit using Brother medium gauge domestic knit machine. Made from organic cotton black yarn, and a linen cream yarn. Yarns sourced from Ireland.
Fair Isle knit with hold techniques and pattern adjustments. Knit using repeats of 10 rows to create design. Made from light pink organic cotton yarn and purple linen. Yarns sourced from Ireland.
Fair Isle knit pattern made using contrasting colour yarn. Knit on a medium gauge Brother domestic knit machine. Made using cream and purple linen yarn. Yarns sourced from within Ireland.
Punch-card knit pattern knit with a blend of organic cotton yarn and synthetic elastic yarn. Knit on a Brother medium gauge knit machine. Yarns sourced within Ireland.
